FIRST, WE TEACH FAITH

Through the Daily Devotionals, Scriptures from Come Follow Me, Learning to Discern the Principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in All Subjects, and Applying Those Principles in Our Lives.

GOALS: Mastery and Ready Application of the Conventions of English (Advanced Phonics; Accent, Syllabication, and Spelling Rules; Grammar and Punctuation Rules); Polished Writing in Prose and Poetry; Basic Literary Knowledge; Familiarity with Children’s Classics; Introduction to Basic Speech Types; John A. Widstoe/Ben Carson Reading Club; Vocabulary Development; Mastery of Print and Cursive Penmanship if not acquired previously.

Mathematics – Levels 3-6 – Continued Individualized Approach.

GOALS: Mastery of Levels 1 & 2 Math; Division & The Rules of Divisibility; Prime & Composite Numbers, Factoring; Fractions, Decimals, Percents; Metric as well as Standard Measurement; Graphs and Tables;  Probability & Statistics; Basic Geometry & Formulas; Estimations, Rounding, Scientific Notation; Ratios and Proportions; Expressions, Equations, and Inequalities; The Coordinate Plane; Signed Numbers and Exponents; Rational and Irrational Numbers, Linear Equations,  Functions; Systems of Equations. Possibilities: Mastery of Pre-Algebra through Algebra I & II and Geometry – depending upon the ability and background of the student. Practical application of above through real-life word problems. History + Civics – Levels 3-6 – Four Year Rotation – All classes cover through 8th grade.

2022-2023 – Government & Economics: Self-Government (Self-Discipline), through Family, Church, Local, State and National Government with emphasis on the US Constitution. (32 weeks) Principles of Austrian
Economics & Practical Economics-Financial Literacy. (4 Weeks)

2023-2024 – Old World Geography and History: Prehistory, The Landing of the Ark and the Division of the Land through Biblical and other additional records to today. God’s Providence through history.

2024-2025 – New World Geography and History: Prehistory through to the present, including an in-depth look at ancient covenants, cultures, legends, and traditions, as well as modern-day nation-states.

2025-2026 – United States Geography and History: God’s hand in the establishment of the United States, including the prelude to the birth of freedom and the restoration of the Gospel, plus His decree regarding persons living on this land. Discovery, exploration,  colonization, great awakenings, fight for independence and the miracles of that era. The Articles of Confederation. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights: A Pattern for All People. America in the Beginning, Alexis de Tocqueville’s observations, and the admonitions and warnings of the Founders. Faith in American History; biographies, and major events through to the present.

Sciences – Levels 3-6 – Four Year Rotation – All classes cover through 8th grade.

2022-2023 – God’s Design Life Sciences – Plant, Animal and Human; also informed by the Universal Model; a new millennial science based on recent observations and discoveries.

2023-2024 – God’s Design Chemistry and Ecology: Properties of Matter, Properties of Ecosystems, Properties of Atoms and Matter; also informed by the Universal Model, a new millennial science based on  observations and discoveries of the last 35 years.

2024-2025 – God’s Design Physical World: Machines & Motion, Heat & Energy, Inventions & Technology; also informed by the Universal Model, a new millennial  science based on discoveries and observation of the last 35-40 years.

2025-2026 – God’s Design Heaven and Earth: Weather & Water, Our Universe, and Our Planet Earth; also  informed by the Universal Model, a new millennial science based on observations and discoveries of the recent past.

Practical & Fine Arts – Levels 3-6 – Semester Classes

OTHER TOPICS maybe available depending upon instructor availability. We welcome parent involvement in this area. We are looking for persons who would be willing to instruct in Spanish or Coding or Computer Skills in exchange for tuition. Such individuals MUST pass a background check, be a member in good standing of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and be able to bring the gospel perspective into their classes.

SECONDARY: AGES 12-18 – LEVELS 7-12 – GRADES 9-12+

NOTE: Levels 7-10 correspond to normal high school. Students are expected to ‘graduate’ at that point by passing the GED TESTS and thus earning their state-issued diploma.

However, we offer additional possibilities in advanced classes at Ascent Advantage Academy, as well as connecting the student with AP & CLEP college credit courses through Modern States or saylor.org academy. (See Curriculum Portal on the Homeschool page.)

LEVELS 7-10 – AGES 12-16 – Equivalent to GRADES 9-12

Language Arts – Levels 7-10 – Four Year Rotation

Yearly Individual Review of the Conventions of English, plus:

2022-2023 – Journalism, Research, and Biography. Tenets of true Journalism with practice in the School Blog. Research on topics, plus a research project presented by paper and orally. Readings in American
Beginnings plus Biographies of American Founders and Others. Writing of one’s own biography, including one’s heritage and birth to the present.

2023-2024 – Exploration of World Literature including Pilgrim’s Progress. Writing in various styles and genres.

2024-2025 – Speech, Debate and Propaganda – An in-depth study of human communications, interpersonal and public via Messages by McKay, Davis & Fanning. Training in Debate. Study of propaganda techniques as
revealed in Edward Bernays’ Propaganda and The Art of Propaganda: The Everyday Use and Abuse of  Persuasion by Pratkanis and Aronson.

2025-2026 – American and Latter-Day Saint Literature. Reading and analysis in both fiction and non-fiction. Writing of one’s own literary pieces.

Mathematics – Levels 7-10

Consistent and Constant review of the basics and course content previously covered by the individual.

We fully understand that there is a wide variance in knowledge and mastery at this level. Therefore, we offer the following instruction at this level:

5) Geometry

6) Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus

7) Statistics

8) Calculus.

NOTE 1: We encourage completion of Geometry  previous to graduation.
NOTE 2: Consumer and Business math is included within these courses.

HISTORY & CIVICS – Levels 7-10 – Four Year Rotation – All classes 9th- 12th Grade level.

A study of Life, informed by the Universal Model, a new millennial science based on observations and  discoveries. Content: 694 pages with in-depth investigations and mind-opening concepts.

This course is also informed by the Universal Model, a new millennial science based on observations and discoveries of the last 35 years.
Content: 548 pages with investigations.

2024-2025 – Physical Science: Further Investigations in Chemistry & Physics

2025-2026 – The Universal Model & The Earth System
This, as all our science courses, is informed by the Universal Model, which offers in-depth analysis and  thought provoking investigations.
